Taos, New Mexico

Nestled in the mountains of northern
New Mexico, our Taos workshop takes
you to a place where Pueblo Indians
still live in a 1,000 year-old
multi-storied adobe structure and the
Spanish began settlement 400 years
ago.  Historic Taos Plaza dates back to
1820 with it's first "La Fonda".

Workshop Location:  Robert Burridge’s workshop will take place in this small artist’s town that is rich in Native American culture
and history set against the natural beauty of a high desert ski valley.  Our workshop takes place during the time of year when you
will see dramatic sunsets, aspens’ turning yellow against the deep blue hills and fresh snow topped mountains.  The workshop
and lodging will not be taking place at the Fechin Inn due to selling to Time Shares; it will take place at the Hotel La Fonda de
Taos located in the Historic Taos Plaza surrounded by shops, galleries, restaurants, old mercantile stores, Kit Carson Park, and
even more historic adobe dwellings and museums to discover.  The owners have provided us with a 30% discount on lodging, a
nice meeting room with a sink and Starbucks coffee and tea.  The only difficulty we will have is the aroma of the Rocky Mountain
Chocolate Factory next door.  Thanks to extensive interior and exterior renovations, the oldest hotel in Taos has been beautifully
transformed into Taos’ newest upscale hotel. Guest rooms and suites offer every comfort and convenience in contemporary
Southwestern surroundings.  An elevator accesses the 2nd floor but many rooms require stairs. Please contact La Fonda directly
if room selection without stairs is preferable.  Children under 12 are not allowed, nor can they accommodate pets. The entire
property is non-smoking.  Joseph’s Table, an award winning restaurant, is located inside the hotel.  They are open for lunch and
dinner seven days a week.  There are many fine restaurants and fast foods to choose from within the Taos Plaza that serve
breakfast, lunch and dinner.  Request an Art in the Mountains rate of $109, $119, $129, plus tax, for Queen, King, or double Twin
rooms. At time of booking a credit card deposit of the first nights stay is charged.  This deposit is fully refundable if cancellation is
received by September 10, 2008.  505.758.2211

Welcome to the historic La Fonda de Taos. Located in the mountains of northern New Mexico, Taos is nestled on the west side
of the Sangre de Cristo range in the shadow of the sacred Taos Mountain. Where the Taos Pueblo Indians still live in a 1,000
year-old multi-storied adobe structure and the Spanish began settlement 400 years ago. Historic Taos Plaza dates back to this
time and 1820 saw its first “La Fonda” (Spanish for “the Inn”) on the Plaza in the form of a mercantile store that also rented
rooms. This historic location is where you will find the La Fonda de Taos today. With over a century of colorful history it is the
only hotel on Taos Plaza and now offers the most elegant rooms in town. All that the historic district has to offer is right outside
front doors of this newly, and richly, renovated hotel; dining, shopping, galleries, museums, theater, and a multitude of historic
sites and attractions.

The hotel is rich in history and celebrity. This is evident in its architecture, featuring massive hand-axed structural beams and
corbels, its art collection and its many decades as host and gathering place to numerous local, national and international
artists, writers, film celebrities and political dignitaries. Ernest Blumenshein, Bert Phillips and other members of Taos Society of
Artists met here on a regular basis and hung many of their paintings in the lobby of the hotel. The hotel is also home of the
world-famous D.H. Lawrence “Forbidden Art” Collection. The paintings are on exhibit in their own gallery in the hotel.
